TokenBB Now on Distant Signal!

Calling all filmmakers and movie enthusiasts on Steem! Join me on my Steem powered forum and let’s talk!

After working through a series of iFrame errors, I was finally able to embed TokenBB into Distant Signal! I was working on integrating a forum into DS a while back but was unable to get it to work before TokenBB came on the scene.

This was a very exciting development. When TokenBB was released I knew the old forum I had been developing needed to be scrapped immediately in exchange for it. Why? Well, TokenBB runs on the Steem blockchain and filmmaking and the blockchain is what DS is all about.

Say hello to Distant Signal’s, Steem powered forums!

Now, things are a little disorganized on the forum. TokenBB hasn’t updated the software to rearrange categories yet. It’s still experimental, but I’m willing to live with the quirks if it means tighter integration with the Steem network.

I already have quite a few categories laid out for filmmaking, 3D printing, crypto in movies, et al. My goal is to make Distant Signal’s, Steem powered forum a central hub for decentralized filmmaking on the blockchain.

Here’s a closer look. One of my favorite aspects of filmmaking is using vintage lenses on modern, digital cameras. I had a write up done about my Russian lens kit I put together for my webseries Milkshake…

so I thought I’d start off the forum with that.

When we step into the Vintage Lenses category it looks like this:

Finally, the post presents itself like so:

What a powerful tool for websites. Incentivized forums represent a huge opportunity to support Steem and reward users for contributing to someone else’s site. Being able to create and share value on forums brings a new dimension to online interaction that I think is missing from forums and I’m going to embrace it.

I’m including categories I am interested in and believe can best help filmmakers get their projects completed in the new, distributed crypto world. For instance, 3D printing will continue to infiltrate the world of filmmaking in the form of DIY prop making, LBRY is a category dedicated to discussing that other, great video distribution blockchain platform. I plan on including others as we go, but LBRY was the best of the bunch besides Steem IMO.

Open source software kind of speaks for itself, but it’s an ethos of software development That has helped me quite a bit throughout my filmmaking career and hobbies.

If you want to know who I am and what Distant Signal is, check this out. It’s sort of a manifesto. The TL;DR is that I’ve won an award for producing, make a lot of reality TV, live in LA and think that artist and media incentives are misaligned and serve large corporations and not independent artists.
The fist horror / thriller film made on and with the Steem blockchain. Use this hashtag to find out all about it!

In 2019 the goal is to produce the short horror film, Changelings, the world of that story and to build a community of filmmakers that are enthusiastic about filmmaking and crypto currency.
